Discovering a Love for Design

Although Courtney has always enjoyed putting spaces together, renovating her home gave her a new appreciation for the transformative power of thoughtful design.

“Going through the renovation process made me appreciate just how much the right materials, finishes, and small details can completely transform a room,” she shares.

Documenting that transformation has become one of the most rewarding parts of her work. Courtney enjoys showing the decisions behind a finished space—not just the final reveal—and inspiring others to bring new ideas into their own homes.

Finding Inspiration in Bedrosians Tile

Courtney is drawn to Bedrosians materials for their ability to feel both current and enduring.

“I gravitate toward natural textures, warm neutrals, and materials that make a statement without overpowering a space,” she explains. “There are always so many Bedrosians products that fit my aesthetic.”

Designing a Bathroom Around Balance

Courtney’s vision for the bathroom was a modern statement space softened by organic elements. Because she had already selected a bolder tile for another area of the room, the shower needed a material that would create visual interest without competing for attention.

“I was immediately drawn to the Marin tile because it has just the right amount of variation,” Courtney says. “It adds texture, dimension, and that slightly organic, handcrafted feeling I love, but the variation is subtle enough that it doesn’t compete with the bolder tile.”

From creating the initial vision board and reviewing samples to seeing the completed installation, Courtney returned to the same guiding principle: pair expressive design choices with quieter materials to create a space that feels interesting, cohesive, and timeless.

Solving the Material Mix

Balancing the bathroom’s different tiles and finishes presented the project’s biggest design challenge. Courtney wanted the shower to have more dimension than a completely uniform tile could provide, but she also needed it to complement the room’s stronger statement element.

Marin became the perfect middle ground. Its tonal variation gives the shower depth and movement without making the space feel busy. The result is a thoughtful material mix in which every finish contributes to the design without overwhelming it.

A Shower That Balances Beauty and Function

“I love how the subtle variation becomes more noticeable once you see it across the entire shower,” she shares. “It creates so much more dimension than a completely uniform tile would while still letting the other statement elements in the room have their moment.”

Courtney also incorporated a full-width shower ledge, which became one of her favorite decisions from the project. It provides generous space for shower essentials while preserving the clean, streamlined look she envisioned.

Embracing Warmer, More Personal Interiors

Looking ahead, Courtney is excited by the shift toward interiors that feel warmer, more layered, and more personal. Rather than matching every finish perfectly, she sees designers and homeowners thoughtfully combining warm woods, interesting stone, dimensional tile, and natural textures.

“I’m especially drawn to organic modern design, so I love seeing texture and natural-looking materials becoming such an important part of interiors,” she says.

Her advice for choosing tile is to consider the room as a complete composition rather than selecting each material in isolation.

“A tile can be beautiful on its own, but it’s really about how it works alongside your flooring, countertops, cabinetry, fixtures, and other finishes,” Courtney explains.

She also recommends viewing samples in the room whenever possible, as natural and artificial lighting can dramatically affect how a color or finish appears. Most importantly, she encourages homeowners to embrace variation and texture.

“Don’t be afraid of those little imperfections and differences,” she says. “They’re often what give a finished space the most character.”

Courtney is already imagining the next project in her home—and looking for more opportunities to incorporate materials with the handmade, organic quality she loves.
